True Product ID offers various consulting services for our clients. These services are completely customizable based on customer needs and include everything from advice on how best to utilize TPID products, election of tracking points, and data management to hands on product authentication services.
Product Authentication Services
True Product ID will employ professional security personnel who visit both traditional and non-traditional sales locations on a daily basis using portable scanners to instantly determine the authenticity of products and electronically report results to KMAC. The portable scanner stores innumerable unique S-DNA signatures and is able to accept manual data input via a built-in personal data assistant (PDA). Field investigators collect data on date, time, location, brand, and positive or negative scan results among other data as prescribed by brand owners.
What is a Field Audit Program?
In order to make any anti-counterfeiting program successful, venders of counterfeit product must be educated that the legitimate owners of the brand have marked their products and have the ability to determine instantly if product is real or counterfeit. With the introduction of its proprietary handheld scanner, TPID is able to provide field audits of a brands product. The scanner is able to determine instantly if a product contains the S-DNA assigned to that particular brand. Moreover, field audits form an effect psychological deterrent to knowingly deal in counterfeit goods.
The field audit program is the corner stone of True Product ID as it ties all of the elements of the product/service solution together. In the case of Government, Banking, and other select applications, the client will likely chose to provide their own field audit services due to a higher need for secrecy or “closed shop” environments. However, in brand name authentication, it is the goal of True Product I.D. to provide field audit services as part of its service solution to the client.
Brand names currently use three sources of information or “stimuli” to identify possible problem areas concerned counterfeit sales of their products. These stimuli include information from their own sales force complaining to management that specific retailers no longer conform to traditional inventory movement. Brands also receive calls from legitimate retail outlets complaining that a competitive retails is selling product at discounts that appear to be out of line with traditional pricing. Lastly, brands receive complaints from consumers who have received product that does not meet the traditional manufacturers’ quality standards.
The key benefit that the Field Audit Program provides our clients is the rapid turn around of field stimuli. Traditional stimuli (sales representatives, retailers, and consumer complaints) take months to accumulate so that internal brand security staff can see a picture of counterfeit activities in specific regions.
